Bank official hacked to death in Nyamira, his assailant lynched by angry mob

An official from the Kenya Women Finance Trust bank was Tuesday hacked to death at a homestead in Bisembe village, North Mugirango Constituency, where he held a meeting with the financial institution’s customers.

Eric Kaloki, 32, KWFT’s business development manager, met his untimely death after demands by Anderson Mayaka, also 32, demanded that he be refunded an extra payment made towards a loan taken by his wife earlier on.

According to Nyamira North Sub County Commander, Patrick Ngeiywa, the visibly angry Mayaka got ‘mad’ at Erick when he told him to wait until other customers with loans settled them for his money to be refunded.

“We are told that Mr. Anderson wanted to be refunded excess cash he made to the bank through his wife refunded. On the official from the bank telling him to wait for a little longer, he became uneasy and went for a machete which he had hidden within the compound where they were having a meeting, he reportedly hacked him to death”, explained Ngeiywa.

However, unfortunately, Anderson who disappeared to the nearest thicket was later cornered by angry residents.

“The assailant was later cornered and lynched hours later at a neighboring Kerumbe village after committing the heinous act.”

Ngeiywa, however, cautioned residents against taking laws into their hands.

The two bodies were taken to Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
