Kenya’s youthful Harambee Stars put up a sterling performance to edge out their bitter rivals Tanzania 1-0 as this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup entered its third day at the Lugogo stadium in Kampala,Uganda.
Bandari FC’s Hassan Abdallah scored the match winner barely after four minutes when he volleyed home Oscar Wamalwa’s through pass.
Harambee Stars, who won the 2017 edition on home soil, now ascend to the top of Group B with three points ahead of Zanzibar and Sudan who played out a 1-1 draw also on Sunday.

The tournament kicked off on Saturday 7 December in Uganda with the hosts Uganda Cranes pulling a slim 2-1 win over Burundi at the Lugongo Stadium in Kampala to climb to the summit in Group A.
Djibouti and Somalia drew 0-0 in the other game played on Saturday at the same venue.
Uganda got their goals through Proline’s Bright Anukani and Viper SC’s Fahad Bayo while Cedric Rusarenga grabbing Burundi’s consolation from the spot in the 60th minute.
