Borabu Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi has disputed claims that Nyamira County legislators have joined the Deputy President William Ruto’s wagon ahead of 2022 general elections.
All Nyamira elected MPs were seen with the DP when he visited the county two weeks ago to flag off a number of projects in two constituencies, which raised concerns over the legislators’ 2022 move.
Ben Momanyi a wiper elected MP and his West Mugirango’s Ford Kenya elected MP were the beneficiaries of the DP’s visit despite the duo being members of the opposition parties.
In West Mugirango, the DP laid a foundation stone for the construction Nyaigesa TTI worth Ksh. 1OO million whereas Borabu Constituency received Ksh. 20 million for the construction and upgrade of Nyamiranga Secondary School in Kiabonyoru Ward.
While addressing faithful at Ibara Catholic Parish today, the Borabu M.P said that the MPs being with the DP when he visited had nothing to do with his (DP) 2022 Presidential bid but for development in the region.
He said they had agreed as Gusii elected leaders to work together with any other leader who is development oriented.
“We will welcome any leader to our land despite his/her political affiliation, doing this doesn’t mean that we have abandoned our people but we are doing this for the sake of development.
“We have been called all sorts of names for bringing the DP to Nyamira and our presence at his function was purely meant for development. That does not mean that we are supporting his 2022 agenda,” said Momanyi.
DP Ruto has of the recent times been seen making several inroads to Gusii region in hopes of wooing more support from both the electorates and the political leaders a head of his 2022 plan to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Hon. Momanyi affirmed that the Gusii leaders would be united and bring development until their term ends.
“We are not being disunited by bringing development with other leaders, we promised our people that we would be united and do development,” he added.
